The welcome gift in full
POEMS’ referral page advertises a welcome gift of up to S$990. The current published tiers (campaign 1 Sep – 1 Nov 2026) are S$50 in stock coupons plus 1,000 POEMS Coins for funding at least S$3,000, and S$200 in stock coupons plus 3,000 Coins for at least S$10,000 — funded within 14 days of opening and held for 30 days. You also need to open a Cash Plus account, opt into SMART Park within 14 days, and log in to POEMS Mobile 3 within 30 days.
Coupons expire 90 days after issue and work only on online cash BUY trades of SG or US stocks worth at least S$100 / US$100. POEMS doesn’t publish a separate reward for using a referral link.
Account fees to know about
No custody fee on foreign shares (waived to 31 Dec 2027) and no SGX account maintenance fee — but a S$15 + GST fee applies in any quarter with no trade, unless you’re in the Privilege tier (S$250k+). SGX cash dividends carry a 1% handling fee (min S$1, max S$50) below Privilege. The $0 US commission excludes US Asian-hours trades and shares under US$1. Sells still pay the US regulators’ fees that every broker passes on — the SEC fee (0.00278% of the sale) and FINRA’s TAF (US$0.000166 a share, max US$8.30) — about US$3 on a US$100,000 sale. Currency conversion isn’t free either: POEMS converts at its prevailing rate and doesn’t publish the spread. US options are US$0.888 a contract (min US$2.88).
Cash Plus vs your own CDP account
Cash Plus is a custodian account: POEMS holds the shares for you. If you want SGX shares in your own CDP account, POEMS’ Cash Management Account does that instead — but it doesn’t carry the $0 US commission.
Questions
Frequently asked
Is POEMS really $0 commission on US stocks?
Yes, on the Cash Plus account, for online trades in regular and extended US hours. It excludes US Asian-hours trades and shares priced under US$1, and exchange-imposed fees may still apply.
Is POEMS cheaper than Tiger or Syfe?
For US stocks POEMS and Syfe tie at $0 commission, and both beat Tiger. For SGX trades under about S$2,000 POEMS is cheapest. Above that Tiger and Syfe are cheaper — about S$109 (or S$104 at Syfe with S$50,000+ held) against S$120 on a S$100,000 trade.
What do I get for signing up to POEMS?
Stock coupons: S$50 for funding S$3,000 or S$200 for S$10,000, held 30 days, for accounts opened by 1 November 2026. POEMS advertises up to S$990 in total welcome gifts.
Are there any ongoing fees?
A S$15 + GST fee in any quarter you don’t trade (waived at S$250k+), and a 1% handling fee on SGX cash dividends below that tier. Custody fees on US and HK shares are waived until the end of 2027.
